Chinese Hunan Industrial Equipment Installation is contemplating the construction of a 171-kilometer toll road in Uzbekistan. The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan's Surkhandarya region governor Ulugbek Kasimov and a delegation from the Chinese company. The project aims to construct a toll road with modern amenities parallel to the M41 highway, which connects Bishkek, Dushanbe, and Termiz.
Both parties emphasized the importance of environmental and economic aspects in road construction. They discussed minimizing the displacement of settlements and trees, as well as mitigating the project's impact on nature.
The meeting concluded with a decision to collaborate and improve the project by engaging experts to address various aspects of the toll road's construction.
In addition to the Chinese company, Sojitz (a Japanese company) and Ronesans (a Turkish company) are also considering participation in toll road construction projects in Uzbekistan. The discussion also included potential cooperation in implementing public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the transport sector.
