Uzbekistan, a country rich in cultural heritage and rapidly advancing in the digital realm, is making strides in the field of information technology (IT). Spearheading this transformation is IT Park Uzbekistan, an innovative hub that is reshaping the nation's technological landscape.
The recent Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF) hosted a special session "IT Park Uzbekistan: New Horizons of Development," which highlighted the progress and promising future of Uzbekistan's IT sector. With over 200 participants in attendance, the session, inaugurated by the Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, showcased Uzbekistan's achievements in IT and underscored its appeal for investments, particularly focusing on the advantages offered by IT Park for its residents.
Farkhod Ibragimov, the CEO of IT Park, emphasized the opportunities available for IT companies and unveiled insights into the transformative Enterprise Uzbekistan project. With a growing number of IT companies across regions and a commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration, IT Park is paving the way for a dynamic and inclusive digital ecosystem.
IT Park Uzbekistan boasts over 1954 resident companies, including 666 export-oriented enterprises, making it a thriving ecosystem for technological innovation and economic growth. In 2023, the volume of exported IT services surged to $344mn, highlighting the sector's robust contribution to the country's economy. Additionally, IT Park has facilitated the creation of 13,073 jobs within the IT sector, playing a pivotal role in driving employment opportunities and nurturing talent development.
Looking forward, Uzbekistan has set ambitious targets for its digital transformation journey. Aligned with the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy, the country aims to become a regional IT hub and increase the volume of IT service and software exports to $5bn by 2030. The strategy prioritizes the development of human capital, aiming to train over 300,000 highly skilled IT professionals. Furthermore, with a target of reaching $1bn in IT exports by the end of 2024, Uzbekistan is poised to elevate its position in the global digital arena.
A milestone was achieved at the International Investment Forum as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between IT Park Uzbekistan and Karam Global Investments Holding Abu Dhabi. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in IT and Outsourcing for Digital Transformation (DX), attracting investments, facilitating company entry into Uzbekistan, organizing joint events, and supporting mutual projects.
