The “Xi’an – Middle Corridor – Europe” westbound train service has become a reliable transportation option since its launch on August 13, 2024, according to RailFreight. This development enhances logistics for businesses seeking efficient trade routes between China and Europe. In a further expansion of its services, Beijing Trans Eurasia plans to officially introduce the eastbound “Europe – Middle Corridor – Xi’an” service in November 2024.
The journey begins in Xi’an, where the train crosses into Kazakhstan via the Altynkol Border. Once in Kazakhstan, cargo is transferred to container ships at Aktau Port for transit across the Caspian Sea to Baku, Azerbaijan. This segment of the journey, from Xi’an to Poti Port in Georgia, takes approximately 15 to 16 days.
Upon arrival at Poti Port, Beijing Trans Eurasia employs its own container ship to make the two-day crossing of the Black Sea to Burgas, Bulgaria. The final leg of the journey involves using dedicated locomotives and wagons to distribute goods from Burgas to various European cities, including Belgrade, Budapest, Ceska Trebova, Mannheim, Duisburg, Hamburg, and Malaszewicz. This stage of transport takes an additional 5 to 8 days, depending on the destination.
As of October 2024, the total average transit time from Xi’an to Mannheim, Germany, has been reduced to about 29 to 30 days, meeting increasing demand from customers for both speed and reliability in freight transportation.
With the anticipated launch of the eastbound service, trains are expected to depart every two weeks, with an estimated transit time of 28 to 30 days. This route notably circumvents the Russian region, allowing for smoother operations that avoid the complexities of EU sanctions against Russia. This not only streamlines document preparation but also expands the range of goods that can be transported, enhancing convenience and options for customers.
The upcoming departure dates for the westbound train are set for November 3, 10, 17, and 24. For the eastbound service, the scheduled departures are November 9, November 23, and December 7.
