Uzbekistan-based start-up airline Air Samarkand is expanding its operational network by launching two new routes. As of September 29, the airline is now offering flights from its base at Samarkand International Airport (SKD) to Tashkent International Airport (TAS), the capital of Uzbekistan. Flights on this route will be operated twice a week using Airbus A321/A321neo aircraft.
In addition to the domestic route, Air Samarkand has initiated flights from Tashkent to Al Ain International Airport (AAN) in the United Arab Emirates. This service, which commenced on September 22, marks a strategic entry into the UAE market, with Al Ain being the fourth largest city in the country and part of the Abu Dhabi emirate. The airport is conveniently located approximately 155 km from Abu Dhabi and 130 km from Dubai. Initially, flights to Al Ain will be available on a weekly basis, also utilizing A321/A321neo aircraft.
Air Samarkand is collaborating with tour operator EasyBooking to offer an exclusive travel package through the Rotana Jet project. This package includes flights, transfers, and accommodations at Rotana Hotels, making it appealing for both leisure and business travelers.
Zafar Abdullayev, General Director of Air Samarkand, expressed enthusiasm about the new routes, stating, “We are delighted to have another destination and a new country on our flight map. I am sure that this route will become popular among both leisure and business travelers.”
Looking ahead, Air Samarkand has plans to expand its offerings further by introducing flights to Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Dubai (DXB) in the near future.
