On March 21, Air Samarkand marked a milestone with the commencement of its first regular flight from Samarkand to Istanbul, signaling enhanced connectivity between Uzbekistan and key international destinations, the airline's press service reports.
Initially, flights will operate twice a week, with departures scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays. However, plans are underway to expand the airline's regular services to include additional destinations such as Tbilisi, Dubai, Jeddah, and other cities in Turkey, offering travelers a broader range of options for their journeys.
Istanbul holds considerable importance as one of the primary and sought-after destinations from Samarkand. The city enjoys deep-rooted economic, cultural, and touristic ties with Uzbekistan, making it a pivotal point of connection for travelers.
Earlier, it was reported that Air Samarkand sets to increase its fleet to 8 Airbus aircraft by the end of 2024. While Air Samarkand currently operates charter flights, regular flights are set to begin at the end of March, coinciding with the start of the summer navigation season. Istanbul, a vital hub, features prominently in the airline’s plans. Under the leadership of Anton Khojayan, the airline's CEO, Air Samarkand plans to enhance its operations and connectivity in the coming years.
