Uzbekistan has improved its standing in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) for 2024, attaining a score of 89.2. This represents a notable increase from the 71.11 score recorded in 2021. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has classified Uzbekistan under the "T2 Advancing" category, which denotes significant progress in cybersecurity development.
The "T2 Advancing" category also includes countries such as Austria, Israel, China, and Russia, reflecting their ongoing advancements in cybersecurity measures.
Sherzod Shermatov, the Head of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, commented on the achievement, stating that Uzbekistan’s inclusion in the T2 Advancing category signifies the country's dedicated focus on enhancing its cybersecurity sector.
Shermatov acknowledged that while progress has been made, there remains substantial work ahead, particularly as digital technologies become more integrated into daily life. He emphasized the importance of developing comprehensive skills among the population to recognize cyber threats and prevent fraud.
