The restored Naibabad railway station in Afghanistan officially reopened on August 7, marking a milestone in regional transport development. The restoration was done through a contract with Uzbekistan Railways, the Afghanistan Railway Administration, and support from Termiz Regional Railway Junction and Sogdiana Trans.
The opening ceremony was highlighted by the arrival of the first freight cars at the Naibabad station, symbolizing the start of a new era in the region's transport infrastructure. The restoration aims to bolster Afghanistan's role in regional cargo logistics, creating a crucial link between Central Asia and South Asia through key road and rail routes.
Officials at the event stressed Afghanistan's strategic importance in regional logistics. They noted that the Naibabad station, revitalized by Uzbek experts, will become a vital transit point for goods transported from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, and Europe to Pakistan, India, and other South Asian nations through Afghanistan.
The renovation of the Naibabad station also highlights progress on the Trans-Afghan railway construction project, which follows the Mazar-e Sharif-Kabul-Kharlachi route. This project is part of broader efforts to enhance regional logistics and strengthen trade cooperation.
The Afghan authorities expressed their gratitude to Uzbekistan for repairing and restoring the 75-kilometre railway line and the Naibabad station.
