Following intensive bilateral negotiations at the Koksaroy residence, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan addressed the media on July 18.
The summit encompassed a series of successful events including meetings of the intergovernmental commission, business forum, rectors' forum, and cultural exchanges showcasing Kyrgyz culture in Uzbekistan.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the constructive and friendly atmosphere of the talks, which covered a wide range of bilateral and regional issues.
"We discussed all current issues on the agenda in an open and friendly spirit," noted President Mirziyoyev.
A cornerstone of the visit was the "Joint Statement on Deepening and Expanding Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," aimed at elevating cooperation across various sectors. Key agreements included the establishment of an "Inter-State Council" chaired by the presidents, reinforcing political dialogue and institutional cooperation at multiple levels—from parliaments to regional administrations and business sectors. The commitment to mutual support in international forums such as the UN, SCO, and CIS underscored their shared regional interests.
"Economic cooperation is crucial for our mutual growth,"
stated President Japarov. The leaders adopted a program aimed at boosting bilateral trade to $2bn through initiatives like trading houses in capital cities, export-import contracts, and streamlined export procedures. A "green corridor" for agricultural and livestock products was initiated to facilitate trade.
Industrial collaboration saw significant strides with the launch of major projects: solar power stations in Fergana and Namangan, automobile production in Chuy, and textile manufacturing in Kara-Balta. The Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund's authorized capital was raised to $200mn to support these endeavors, President Mirziyoyev confirmed.
Transport connectivity was prioritized, highlighted by the historic "tripartite agreement on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway" and plans for small hydropower cooperation.
"The Qambarota HPP project will serve as a cornerstone for regional sustainable development," President Japarov emphasized.
Cultural, educational, and sports exchanges were also reinforced, with new direct flights enhancing tourist connectivity between Tashkent, Bishkek, and Tomchi. These agreements on sanatorium-resort complexes in Issyk-Kol mark significant strides in tourism infrastructure development.
President Mirziyoyev concluded with optimism, affirming that the visit would "enrich Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan cooperation, fostering deeper friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership."
