The Termez International Airport has successfully completed the third and final stage of its extensive airfield complex reconstruction. This milestone marks the end of a multi-phase project aimed at modernizing and enhancing the airport's infrastructure to accommodate a wider range of aircraft and improve operational efficiency.
Final Stage Completion
The final phase of the reconstruction focused on the construction of the second taxiway RD-A and a section of the main taxiway. These taxiways boast a supporting width of 23 meters and a total width of 44 meters, designed to facilitate the movement of wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787, Boeing 777, and Airbus 330 without any restrictions. Additionally, the construction of an apron section with three aircraft stands and the installation of advanced lighting equipment have been completed.
Optimal Construction Materials
This material, also used in the previous runway construction, offers enhanced durability and longevity, making it an optimal solution for the region's environmental conditions.
Previous Phases of Reconstruction
The second stage of the reconstruction, which commenced at the end of 2020 and concluded in December 2022, saw substantial developments. This phase included the construction of most of the category 4E airfield complex, featuring a new 3,000-meter-long and 60-meter-wide runway. Additional developments included the creation of taxiways and an apron with three aircraft stands. The installation of a modern CAT-I ICAO lighting system, along with advanced meteorological and radio navigation landing systems, further enhanced the airport's operational capabilities.
Historical Context
The latest reconstruction efforts at Termez International Airport are significant as the last major renovation of the airfield complex was conducted in 1989. The recent comprehensive upgrades reflect a continued commitment to improving aviation infrastructure and supporting the growth of air travel in the region.
The completion of the reconstruction project equips Termez International Airport with state-of-the-art facilities that meet international standards. The upgraded infrastructure will not only accommodate a greater variety of aircraft but also ensure safer and more efficient operations.
