Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) conducted an inspection of the construction progress for a major petrochemical cluster in the Bukhara region on July 9. The visit was led by Acting Deputy Head of the CCI, Umid Pazilkhanov, and the newly appointed Head of the Bukhara regional branch, Shokhrukhali Sadillaev. The project is a collaborative effort between the Uzbek-Iranian joint venture Petrochem Sepehr.
Project Overview
The petrochemical cluster, with an estimated project cost of $274mn, aims to implement more than 10 individual projects within its territory. The venture is expected to generate employment for approximately 600 individuals, contributing to the local economy and providing new job opportunities.
Production and Economic Impact
The cluster is set to produce a range of chemical products including pentane, hexane, benzene, toluene, dimethyl carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, caustic soda, and potassium sulfate. The anticipated annual production value is up to $240mn, with about $82mn worth of products planned for export. Furthermore, the cluster is projected to substitute imported products valued at $123mn. The expected annual revenue contribution to the state budget from the enterprise is estimated to be around UZS 214bn ($17mn).
The project was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the Bukhara region at the end of May. During the presentation, it was reported that the complex, with a production capacity of 460,000 tons, was scheduled to be operational by the end of July or the beginning of August. The plant's official launch is now planned for September.
