Emphasizing the critical importance of a modern knowledge economy, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced several forward-looking initiatives at the OTS Informal Summit in Shusha. His proposals aim to advance digital technologies, develop blockchain and cloud computing, promote quantum computing and robotics, and enhance training for the “fourth industry.” These initiatives underscore Uzbekistan’s commitment to fostering technological innovation and establishing a cutting-edge knowledge economy across the Turkic states.
Mirziyoyev stressed the significance of leveraging the Turkic world’s historical contributions to civilizational progress to drive future advancements. "The peoples of the Turkic world have made enormous contributions to civilizational progress at different stages of their development," he noted.
To support these efforts, Mirziyoyev proposed establishing a Research Center for Human Capital Development of the Organization of Turkic States in Uzbekistan. This center would focus on advancing digital technologies and building a robust knowledge economy.
In addition to technological advancements, Mirziyoyev highlighted the goal of significantly increasing Uzbekistan's renewable energy capacity by 2030. "In Uzbekistan, we have set a goal to significantly increase the capacity of renewable energy in the country by 2030 and raise its share in the energy balance to 40%," he stated. New wind and solar power plants with an annual capacity of 2 gigawatts are being launched through public-private partnerships and direct foreign investment. Uzbekistan is also collaborating with Kazakhstan on constructing hydroelectric power plants in neighboring Kyrgyzstan.
Mirziyoyev proposed the adoption of the Concept of the "Turkic Movement to Green Energy" to enhance cooperation in renewable energy among Turkic states.
Furthermore, to inspire future generations and promote scientific excellence, Mirziyoyev suggested organizing the Turkic Youth Olympiad in Exact Sciences and the World Congress of Turkologists under the auspices of the Organization, with both events to be held in Uzbekistan next year.
