President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received US Trade Representative Katherine Tai during her official visit on June 14. President Tokayev highlighted the importance of Tai's visit in enhancing the already robust partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States.
President Tokayev remarked on the enduring and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations over the past thirty years.
"Our countries have strengthened strategic partnerships in many areas, including trade, investment, security, human rights, and democracy," said Tokayev.
Last year marked a milestone in bilateral trade, with the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the U.S. reaching a record high of $4.1bn, a 30% increase from 2022.
President Tokayev noted that over 600 American companies are successfully operating within Kazakhstan, reflecting the country's commitment to improving its investment climate, liberalizing the economy, and fostering industrial development.
U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and the opportunity to discuss strategies for enhancing trade relations. She highlighted the importance of creating conducive conditions for economic cooperation and emphasized the potential of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement to facilitate this process.
"This visit is pivotal in exploring new approaches to develop our trade ties further and strengthen economic interaction," Tai stated.
