Uzbekneftegaz, state-owned holding company of Uzbekistan's oil and gas industry, launched the Drilling Control Center to revolutionize drilling operations across Uzbekistan, cutting down on the duration and costs associated with well construction, as reported by the company's press service on May 15.
Efficiency and Cost Reduction
The center is expected to deliver substantial improvements in operational efficiency. By centralizing and digitalizing the management of drilling operations, Uzbekneftegaz aims to reduce the duration of drilling wells by an impressive 45% and slash construction costs by 35%. Specifically, each well's construction could save between UZS 4 bn (over $300,000) to UZS 10 bn (over $780,000) from the projected costs.
Currently, the Drilling Control Center provides 24/7 monitoring of 23 wells across six fields in Uzbekistan. The fields include Dengizkul, Zevarda, Yangi Tegirmon, Shurtan, Lower Eastern Berdak, and Lower Surgil, many of which are located in remote areas. The center's specialists use modern technologies and remote monitoring systems to oversee drilling processes in real-time, allowing for quick identification and prevention of potential accidents and incidents.
Advanced Data Management
Data from each drilling rig is transmitted in real-time to the company's server at the Head Office. Using specialized software, this data is displayed in the form of parameters and diagrams on screens at the Drilling Control Center. This system enables the center's experts to analyze data continuously and provide actionable recommendations to enhance the efficiency and safety of well construction processes.
Collaboration with Russian Expertise
During the opening ceremony, a teleconference was established with the Well Construction Control Center in Muravlenko, Russia. This center provides remote engineering support for accelerated drilling processes. Russian specialists detailed their activities and the successful results achieved while drilling well No. 326 in the Dengizkul field, highlighting the benefits of this collaborative approach.
In addition to operational monitoring, the Drilling Control Center plays a crucial role in the training, retraining, and advanced education of personnel. The staff at the center are continuously enhancing their expertise through the use of specialized software designed for engineering accounting, ensuring that the workforce is well-equipped to handle the sophisticated demands of modern drilling operations.
