President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed Speaker Xia Qian Peng of the Parliament of Singapore on May 2 as part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, presidential press service reported.
During the meeting, Speaker Xia Qian Peng expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended the high-level organization of the forum. Both sides acknowledged the fruitful outcomes achieved in Uzbekistan-Singapore relations over the past year, underscoring the success of reciprocal visits and the steady growth in trade volume and joint projects across various sectors, including textile, chemical, agriculture, and logistics.
Particular attention was directed towards enhancing cooperation in areas such as human resource development, investment, tourism, and public security. Emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing effective joint parliamentary oversight mechanisms to ensure the successful implementation of high-level agreements.
Earlier Daryo reported that Alisher Kayumov, Uzbekistan's newly designated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, officially submitted his credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore.
