Tajikistan plans to boost export to Kazakhstan
President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan welcomed Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov of Kazakhstan on an official visit to Tajikistan on April 30. The meeting between the two leaders aimed to strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan across various sectors, press service of president of Tajikistan reported.
During the discussions, President Rahmon emphasized the rapid expansion of the strategic partnership between the two nations, expressing Tajikistan's keen interest in further enhancing bilateral cooperation. Prime Minister Bektenov reciprocated the sentiment, acknowledging President Rahmon's pivotal role in nurturing and advancing bilateral relations. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to Tajikistan as a reliable strategic partner and ally, emphasizing the absence of unresolved issues between the two countries.
The leaders stressed the importance of leveraging the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation to oversee the implementation of contracts and agreements totaling approximately three billion dollars. Additionally, they emphasized the significance of attracting investment to key sectors such as light and mining industry, food, chemistry, non-ferrous metallurgy, machinery, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.
Both parties underscored the significance of cultural and humanitarian exchanges in strengthening the strategic partnership. They discussed upcoming bilateral and multilateral engagements, including participation in regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and the Central Asian Heads of State Consultative Meetings.
