The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has announced an update regarding visa regulations for foreign nationals visiting the country. A unilateral visa-free regime, allowing a stay of up to 30 days, has been introduced for citizens of 25 countries, effective May 1, 2024. This decision aims to enhance tourism and strengthen diplomatic ties with these nations, Avesta.tj reported.
The newly added countries to the list of those eligible for the unilateral visa-free regime include the Principality of Andorra, Bahamas, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Republic of Brazil, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Costa Rica, Republic of Cyprus, Ireland, Republic of Malta, Republic of the Marshall Islands, United States of Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, Sultanate of Oman, Romania, Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Republic of San Marino, Republic of Serbia, Slovak Republic, Republic of Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Vatican, and the State of Palestine (for diplomatic and service/special passports).
Moreover, citizens aged over 55 from 16 countries are now entitled to a unilateral visa-free regime for a period of 14 days. This initiative aims to promote tourism among senior citizens and foster cultural exchange. The countries included in this category are the Republic of Albania, Algerian People's Democratic Republic, Barbados, Republic of Vanuatu, People's Republic of China, Commonwealth of Dominica, Republic of Fiji, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Lebanese Republic, Republic of Madagascar, Kingdom of Morocco, Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Nicaragua, Republic of Panama, Republic of Tunisia, and Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Additionally, Tajikistan has simplified its visa acquisition process for citizens of 14 countries, including the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Republic of Vanuatu, Republic of Sudan, Republic of Madagascar, State of Palestine, Republic of Haiti, Republic of Uganda, Syrian Arab Republic (for diplomatic, service, and business visas), Republic of Iraq (for diplomatic, service, and business visas), Federal Republic of Nigeria (for diplomatic, service, and business visas), Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (for diplomatic, service, and business visas), Republic of Rwanda (for diplomatic, service, and business visas), and the Republic of the Congo (for diplomatic, service, and business visas).
However, that citizens of these countries planning to stay in Tajikistan for purposes such as work, study, permanent residence, or other non-tourist activities must obtain the relevant visa corresponding to their purpose of visit before traveling to Tajikistan.
Earlier Daryo reported that Tajikistan implements visa regime for Turkish citizens, effective from April 20, 2024.
