Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Sberbank, discussed the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on Uzbekistan’s economy at the Innoprom event in Uzbekistan's Tashkent. By 2030, AI is expected to contribute approximately $10 bn to Uzbekistan's GDP and create over 430,000 new jobs in sectors such as industry, construction, and agriculture. Vedyakhin emphasized the potential benefits of these developments and urged Uzbekistan to join the BRICS alliance to advance these initiatives.
We invite our colleagues from Uzbekistan to join the alliance with BRICS. We will develop this alliance in Russia and all BRICS countries,
- Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Sberbank.
The implementation of AI is targeted at revitalizing Uzbekistan's core industrial sectors, including manufacturing, construction, and agriculture. Uzbekistan is actively pursuing advancements in AI, mirroring efforts observed in globally leading nations like the United States and China. The government implemented MyID, a biometric identification system that supports remote customer verification.
There is an increasing focus on AI education in Uzbekistan, reflected by the rise in educational courses, public conferences, and community activities centred around AI technology. Government-backed initiatives include the recruitment of the Alif AI team and the introduction of specialized courses in machine learning.
Uzbekistan is also supporting the growth of specialized startups, particularly those developing large language models tailored to the Uzbek language and technologies for speech recognition and synthesis. This support aims to advance technological capabilities while promoting the use of the Uzbek language in modern digital tools.
