Employees of Navoi and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combines hold Uzbekistan's top two positions nationwide for the highest amount of accumulated debts on property and land tax, the Tax Committee reports. The amounts owed by employees of these companies stand at UZS 8.1 bn ($639,334) and UZS 8 bn ($631,441), respectively.
The Tax Committee reiterated that citizens are required to pay land and property taxes in two equal instalments by April 15 and October 15 each year. However, not all individuals fulfilled their tax obligations as mandated by law.
As of April 18, 2024, a staggering 1.1 mn employees across 243,256 organizations amassed UZS 738.4 bn ($58.2 mn) in tax arrears. This amount comprises UZS 400.7 bn ($31.6 mn) for property tax and UZS 337.7 bn ($26.6 mn) for land tax, covering 1.4 mn taxable objects.
During 1Q24, Uzbekistan witnessed a significant contribution to the national treasury from large taxpayers, totalling over 218,000 entities. These contributions amounted to approximately UZS 24.5 trillion ($1.9 bn). Notably, ten companies alone contributed a substantial portion of UZS 12.5 trillion ($982.2 mn).
The Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC) emerged as the leading contributor among state-owned enterprises, with payments reaching UZS 6.2 trillion ($486.7 mn). Other notable contributors include the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AMMC) and Khudududgazta'minot, which contributed UZS 1.9 trillion ($149.1 mn) and UZS 899.1 bn ($70.6 mn), respectively.
The Tax Committee continues to monitor tax compliance across sectors, urging individuals and organizations to fulfil their tax obligations to ensure the sustained growth and stability of the national economy.
