Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Norbaeva, conducted a meeting on April 8, with a delegation headed by the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, during their visit to Uzbekistan. The meeting aimed to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation, focusing on trade, economic, and investment relations, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges, the press service of the Senate reported.
Trade between Uzbekistan and Georgia witnessed a notable increase of 23% in 2023. Discussions during the meeting centered on exploring opportunities for joint projects in sectors such as transport logistics, banking and finance, and tourism. Both parties acknowledged the importance of fostering closer cultural ties, recognizing the historical friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia.
To facilitate the implementation of agreements between the two countries, there was an emphasis on establishing regular dialogue between parliamentary bodies. It was agreed to strengthen the role of inter-parliamentary friendship groups in coordinating efforts and to enhance cooperation within international organizations.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for collaboration across various sectors, reflecting the shared goal of Uzbekistan and Georgia to deepen their ties and promote mutual development.
