The contribution of the information and communication sector to Uzbekistan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has seen an upsurge in the year 2023, as per the latest data released by the Statistics Agency. The report indicates that UZS 21.1 trillion ($1.7bn) worth of added value was generated within this sector, constituting approximately 2.1% of the nation's GDP.
Comparing the figures to the previous year, there has been a notable increment of 0.2% in the share of the information and communication sector in the gross domestic product, showcasing a steady growth trajectory in this crucial segment of the economy.
The city of Tashkent emerged as the frontrunner, exhibiting the highest proportion of the information and communication sector's contribution to the gross regional product, standing at an impressive 8.6%.
