EHang, a Chinese company, has commenced open sales of its unmanned passenger aerial vehicle, as reported by Reuters.
The EH216-S model recently made its debut on the company's online store on the Taobao marketplace. Priced at 2.39 mn yuan ($332,000), this two-seater vertical take-off and landing vehicle has garnered significant attention from buyers.
Remarkably, the manufacturer pledges to deliver the device to customers within a mere 30 days. Chinese journalists observed that the initial batch of "air taxis" sold out entirely within a few hours of being listed for sale.
Official specifications outline that the EH216-S is capable of transporting two passengers through the air across distances of up to 30 km, boasting a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
Having obtained an air transport license from the local regulator in October 2023, EHang commenced test flights of the vehicle with passengers onboard since December of the same year.
EHang asserts that the EH216-S has been operating entirely autonomously since the onset of serial production. Hu Huazhi, the company's CEO, announced ambitious plans to venture into foreign markets later this year.
