The Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conference, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and IT Park, unfolded in Dubai on February 15, drawing over 100 prominent experts and business delegates, IT Park reported. The event showcased Uzbekistan's burgeoning potential as an IT outsourcing destination, spotlighting its conducive environment, including tax incentives, support programs, and a skilled workforce.
In 2023, 41 IT Park residents exported IT services and digital products to the United Arab Emirates, amassing $19.7mn. Building upon these achievements, the primary goal of the conference was to bolster these figures while positioning Uzbekistan as a premier IT outsourcing center in the global arena.
Dignitaries such as Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Abdulaziz Akulov attended the event, alongside industry leaders and investors. Figures like Mohammad Alblooshi, CEO of DIFC Innovation Hub, and Sean McEllin, IDA Ireland Middle East Regional Director, shared insights into the prospects of collaborating with Uzbekistan.
The event showcased innovative solutions from resident companies of IT Park like Unicon Soft, ExactIT, and REAL SOFT, laying the groundwork for prospective business ventures. Representatives elucidated the plethora of outsourcing opportunities within the country, underlining incentives such as tax exemptions and support programs tailored for foreign companies.
Highlighting Uzbekistan's human capital, it was emphasized that nearly two-thirds of the country's 36 mn inhabitants are under 30, boasting high literacy rates and proficiency in foreign languages. With over 30,000 IT graduates annually from 65 universities, Uzbekistan presents a formidable pool of talent for the global IT industry.
A pivotal announcement at the conference was the establishment of the International Center for Digital Technologies Enterprise Uzbekistan. This center aims to facilitate global business operations through Uzbekistan, offering a regulatory sandbox, robust intellectual property protection, and comprehensive government services, among other amenities.
Minister Shermatov underscored the significance of the conference, expressing Uzbekistan's ambition to evolve into a global IT outsourcing hub.
“The event in Dubai highlighted our capabilities and is a step towards establishing close ties with the global IT community," Minister Shermatov noted.
Looking ahead, the conference is expected to catalyze substantial growth in Uzbekistan's IT outsourcing sector. Forecasts predict over 15 companies establishing their representative offices in Uzbekistan, with projected exports worth $10mn in the first year and $50mn within three years. This expansion is poised to create at least 500 new jobs in the initial year and 2,000 within three years for local IT specialists, solidifying Uzbekistan's position on the global IT outsourcing map.
