Insiders familiar with the matter reveal that Apple is actively working on at least two variants of a folding smartphone, featuring a horizontal fold in the middle of the screen. Negotiations with Asian suppliers for the procurement of parts for these futuristic gadgets have already commenced.
Despite the progress, the development process has encountered significant challenges, primarily concerning the durability of prototypes. Additionally, limitations in battery size and display components have impeded efforts to achieve the sleek form factor characteristic of Apple's current models.
However, consumers eagerly awaiting these cutting-edge devices may need to exercise patience. The foldable iPhone is not slated for production in the current year or the next, with a release date still uncertain. Similarly, the debut of the new iteration of the iPad featuring a folding screen is not anticipated before 2026.
Earlier Daryo reported that Apple was embroiled in a legal dispute with French authorities concerning its iPhone 12 model. The conflict arised from a directive by France's radiation regulatory body, the Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANFR), instructing Apple to halt sales of the iPhone 12 within the country. The ANFR claimed that the device violates European exposure regulations.
