During a recent two-day working visit to the North Kazakhstan region, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin explored the ongoing harvesting campaign and met with leaders of significant agricultural enterprises. This region, known as a key grain producer in Kazakhstan, spans 4.4mn hectares dedicated to crop cultivation and boasts a robust agricultural framework.
Zhumangarin highlighted the successful implementation of preferential lending for dairy farms, poultry facilities, and irrigation projects, which has now been expanded to other regions. Currently, the dairy sector constitutes 35% of the region's total processing volume, followed by grain processing at 19%, oil and fat at 6.5%, and meat processing at 7%.
In the Taiynshinsky District, a processing cluster has emerged, featuring TOO Memolux for grain and TOO Taiynsha Mai for oilseeds, supported by Chinese investments. The mill complex in the village of Aimak processes 300 tons of flour daily and includes a feed mill with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons. Plans for expansion include a pasta production facility. Nearby, the village of Ilyichevka hosts a plant dedicated to producing unrefined rapeseed and sunflower oil.
Taiyinsha May and Memolux stand out as the region's largest agricultural projects targeting the Chinese market. Their Chinese partner, Jia Hei, president of Xi'an Ai Ju Corporation, manages a bonded warehouse at the Alashankou railway station with a storage capacity of 100,000 tons. The corporation operates over 1,000 stores in Xi'an and exports a range of Kazakhstani products, including confectionery and ice cream, while also establishing a logistics and processing park in Xi'an.
Jia emphasized the advanced grain milling technology used at their facilities, which grinds flour at low temperatures to retain its nutritional properties. In light of the plans for a new logistics center in North Kazakhstan, Zhumangarin proposed consolidating Kazakhstani products for export to China, a suggestion that Jia welcomed enthusiastically. The aim is to create the largest export company in Kazakhstan focused on the Chinese market.
Zhumangarin also visited the EMS Agro meat processing plant, which conducts comprehensive deep-cycle meat processing. The facility is set to double its capacity to 200,000 pigs. Last year, it produced nearly 10,000 tons of pork, beef, and various processed products. Once fully operational, production could rise to 20,000 tons, positioning it as Kazakhstan's largest pig complex, contingent on the resumption of pork exports to China.
