Russia has offered to collaborate with Kazakhstan on the development of a nuclear power plant project. In an interview with Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the readiness of the Russian state corporation Rosatom to create a nuclear power plant project for Kazakhstan.
Putin stated, "As you know, the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan is considering the issue of building a nuclear power plant on its territory. If the decision to implement this project is made, the Rosatom state corporation is ready to develop an appropriate project using the most advanced technologies, in compliance with the highest environmental requirements and safety standards."
The potential construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan is seen as a significant move that could enhance the energy supply of the country and contribute to its socio-economic development.
President Putin's statement came ahead of his official visit to Kazakhstan, scheduled for November 9. During this visit, he will engage in negotiations with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and participate in the 19th Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, conducted via video conferencing.
The issue of constructing a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan has sparked debates. In a national address on September 1, President Tokayev announced that the decision on this matter would be determined through a national referendum, underscoring the importance of public opinion in shaping the nation's energy future.
