Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, led a high-level delegation to Baku on June 20, for a series of events aimed at strengthening bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The centerpiece of the visit was the 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, co-chaired by Kudratov and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov. In his opening remarks, Kudratov highlighted the rapidly developing partnership, underpinned by the trust-based relationship between the two countries’ leaders.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, industrial development, transport, agriculture, and the food industry—key pillars of the strategic partnership. The ministers reviewed the progress of joint projects, including those in residential and tourism infrastructure, logistics, and the establishment of cotton and dairy clusters.

Special attention was given to the Uzbek delegation’s participation in the Exhibition and Forum on Trade and Investment Cooperation of Turkic States, where the “Made in Uzbekistan” pavilion featured goods from over 50 Uzbek manufacturers. Officials noted a 40% increase in mutual trade volume since the beginning of the year, underscoring the momentum behind bilateral efforts.

The Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company was recognized for actively financing 15 projects totaling more than $360mn. Several new initiatives were agreed upon, including:
- A Joint Action Plan to increase trade turnover
- An Industrial Cooperation Program for 2025–2026
- A schedule of mutual trade missions over the next two years
- The launch of trade houses and showrooms in both Tashkent and Baku
- The establishment of a bilateral Business Council
- Cooperation in developing transport corridors and partnerships in sericulture, cotton, and dairy industries

Minister Kudratov also took part in the 3rd Forum of the Regions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, which convened over 50 business leaders from both nations. The forum included B2B sessions and direct talks with regional authorities and private sector representatives, resulting in several regional cooperation agreements.
The visit concluded with one-on-one meetings between Kudratov and executives of major Azerbaijani firms, exploring new avenues for investment and strategic partnership.
