The interim administration of Kabul and the government of Uzbekistan have jointly decided to maintain round-the-clock operations at the Hairatan port in northern Afghanistan, effective from the start of November this year.
This agreement was reached during discussions between Nooriddin Azizi, Afghanistan's Minister of Industry and Commerce, and a visiting Uzbek delegation in Kabul on Monday, October 30.
In parallel, a collaborative investment opportunity meeting took place today in Kabul, involving the Uzbek delegation and private sector representatives from both countries. During this session, discussions centered around advancing trade, transit, and bolstering economic ties. Based on an official statement from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Minister Azizi highlighted several key agreements. These include the issuance of visas for traders and drivers, simplifying trade transactions valued at over $3 billion between the two nations, and the establishment of 24/7 operations at the Hairatan trade port.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khoja Yuf, emphasized the importance of Afghanistan as a valued neighbor and its people. He expressed that the progress of Afghanistan would parallel the advancement of Uzbekistan, emphasizing that peace and stability in Afghanistan are vital for the stability of the entire region.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan has stated that the country's delegation to Afghanistan comprises the Ministers of Energy, Mines, Geology, Agriculture, and Water Reserves, and representatives from various enterprises. They are prepared to collaborate across various sectors and offer their insights and expertise.
