USAID Administrator Samantha Power is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan on October 23-24, as announced by the agency's press service. During her visit, Power will convene the first ministerial conference in the C5+1 format, a diplomatic platform involving the United States and five Central Asian nations: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The primary focus of this conference is to address regional relations and reaffirm the U.S. government's commitment to the independence, sovereignty, and well-being of the countries in the region. Since its initiation in 2015, the C5+1 dialogue has served as the principal diplomatic channel for the U.S. government to engage with these Central Asian nations.
The Development Ministerial Meeting, to be held as part of this visit, aims to promote inclusive and sustainable economic development in Central Asia. The meeting will emphasize key areas, including regional interactions, trade, economic growth, entrepreneurship, climate and energy solutions, and opportunities for youth. It will bring together ministers from all five states to foster concrete action in these critical areas.
Administrator Samantha Power's visit and the C5+1 conference offer a platform for furthering diplomatic ties, fostering economic growth, and addressing shared challenges in Central Asia, underscoring the significance of international cooperation in this dynamic and strategically important region.
