Uzbekistan plans to develop its railway transport within the framework of public-private partnership.
Gazeta.uz was informed by the Ministry of Justice that, in accordance with the presidential decree of October 10, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economy and Finance are instructed to develop a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation of projects for the development of railway stations in Tashkent, Samarkand and Kokand on the basis of PPP.
This step is aimed at increasing the efficiency and attractiveness of railway transport for passengers and freight carriers.
In addition to the development of railway stations, the resolution also provides for the creation of transport logistics companies for large exporters, the construction of a second electrified line on the Tashkent-Angren section, the modernization of the existing section on the Tashkent-Angren route, the creation of a terminal for the provision of logistics services during the export of cargo from industrial enterprises in the Tashkent-Angren direction, and the opening of a multimodal transport and logistics center in the Akhangaran district of the Tashkent region.
In order to increase the efficiency of the use of railway capacity, it is also planned to move freight railway stations outside of Tashkent.
The freed-up land will be sold through online auctions, and the proceeds will be directed in equal shares to the development of the infrastructure of the railway industry and to the republican budget.
