The Swiss prosecutor's office announced on September 28 that it has concluded a 5-year investigation related to Gulnora Karimova.
According to the investigation's findings, criminal charges have been brought against Gulnora Karimova, the daughter of the former President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, and the former director of the Uzbek branch of a Russian telecommunications company. The company's name and the official's name have not been disclosed.
Gulnora Karimova faces charges related to her involvement in criminal activities, including participation in an organized criminal group, embezzlement of funds, impersonating a foreign public official, and destruction of evidence, among other offenses. Additionally, Gulnora Karimova has been requested to provide information regarding her assets, which are estimated to exceed CFH 440 mn (approximately UZS 5.8 tn).
The conclusion of this 5-year investigation marks a significant development in the legal proceedings involving Gulnora Karimova, who has faced various legal challenges in multiple countries in recent years.
