Kazakhstan's coal production and exports have decreased, according to media reports.
Over the six months of 2023, the Central Asian country produced 6mn tons of hard coal, which is 2% less than the previous year.
Despite this decline, the Pavlodar and Karaganda regions are still the top mining areas, contributing over 90% of the production.
The Abay region also ranks among the top three.
As for exports, the country shipped out 13mn tons of coal, bringing in almost KZT 2bn.
However, this amount represents a 20% decrease compared to the previous year.
Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan were the primary importers of Kazakhstani coal.
