Moscow demands an apology from Paris for not allowing Russian journalists to attend Emmanuel Macron's press conference in New Delhi, stated Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in her Telegram channel.
"This policy, infused with falsehood, arrogance, and a superiority complex, will ultimately backfire on its proponents. We also view this incident as a glaring manifestation of racism and aggressive nationalism since it is rooted in discrimination based on nationality. We demand an apology from the Élysée Palace on behalf of the media representative," she wrote.
Furthermore, Zakharova emphasized that Russia will not overlook the fact that some countries are once again displaying racial discrimination and violating democratic principles.
"Paris, besides launching a 'witch hunt' in its information space and eradicating Russian broadcasters from its public domain, is now exporting contempt for pluralism of opinions and media rights beyond the collective West," underscored Zakharova.
She also reminded that Russia currently has representatives from 11 French media outlets accredited, and all of them can participate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' press events.
"Incidentally, no one prevented a correspondent from the 'France Presse' agency with a cameraman from attending today's press conference by Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov following the G20 summit," summarized the representative of the foreign policy department.
Earlier, Russian journalist Ekaterina Nadolskaya reported that she was not allowed to attend President Emmanuel Macron's press conference on the sidelines of the G20 summit. Security personnel claimed that the hall was full and only French media were being admitted. However, Nadolskaya stated that the event was open to all press employees—Indian, European, and American, but not Russian. When she attempted to enter the hall, she was forcefully pushed away by French security and Macron's press service representatives.
