At a recent government meeting, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Azamat Beispekov provided Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov with an update on the impressive progress of Kazakhstan's geological industry, media reports.
The state geological exploration of the subsoil is being developed in two highly effective ways: "regional exploration of the subsoil" and "prospecting."
"Regional exploration of the subsoil" covers 94.5% of Kazakhstan's territory on a 200-thousandth scale and is being carried out throughout the country.
The second direction involves search work for 16 sites to ensure the stable functioning of city-forming enterprises situated near single-industry towns. Twelve sites specifically focus on developing the rare earth metals industry.
The State Subsoil Fund Management Program already includes the country's entire territory available for subsoil use.
To further increase investment in exploration, the Ministry for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to replenish the mineral resource base and attract investment in the exploration industry. They propose including geological exploration in the national priorities of the Central Asian country and developing new mechanisms that will increase the level of public and private investment in exploration.
A comprehensive analysis of all types of historical data will be conducted to create a systematic approach to industry development for each mineral type.
Moreover, the Ministry is already making great strides in digitalizing the business processes of subsoil users and implementing the principle of a "single window" for potential and existing investors to ensure open access to geological materials.
The information platform minerals.gov.kz is already running, with around 40,000 reports uploaded.
Meanwhile, the National Geological Service, established in 2021, is working relentlessly on digitizing primary geological information, which will also be publicly available on minerals.gov.kz.
The Ministry aims to convert 861,000 sheets of information on paper, 129,000 sheets of graphics, 38,000 magnetic media, and 16,000 cartridges into electronic format by the end of this year.
According to Azamat Beispekov, the state balance currently considers more than 8,000 deposits of over 100 types of solid and common minerals, hydrocarbons, and groundwater.
