Australia's Minister of Defense, Richard Marles, hopes that the USA will assist in the development of missiles in the coming years.
"We hope that within two years, missile production in Australia will be established as part of the collective industrial base of our two countries," he said following the annual AUSMIN talks in Australia.
Furthermore, according to the minister, Australia has committed to "increasing the number of American troops at northern bases, increasing the quantity of maritime patrols and reconnaissance aircraft, and increasing the number of visits by American nuclear submarines to the country's territory."
Earlier, it was reported that the U.S. Senate approved a record $886 bn defense spending bill for the year 2024.
