The Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu will participate in a military parade in Pyongyang on July 27. The parade marks the 70th anniversary of the North Korean people's victory in the homeland liberation war of 1950-1953.
During his visit to Pyongyang, Sergei Shoigu held talks with the North Korean Minister of Defense, General Kim Jong Nam, and also met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The discussions primarily focused on global and regional security issues.
In addition to attending the military parade, Sergei Shoigu and Kim Jong Un visited the "Arms Exhibition - 2023" and attended a concert commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
This visit followed an invitation from the North Korean leadership and aimed to strengthen defense and security cooperation between Russia and North Korea. Sergei Shoigu's meeting with Kim Jong Un also included the delivery of a letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Shoigu arrived in North Korea on July 25 at the invitation of the North Korean leadership. On July 26, he met with his North Korean counterpart Kang Sun Nam.
