As per the recent data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat), the price index for construction materials witnessed an annual increase of 5.78% in January-June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
In June 2023, the price index for construction materials reached 135.28 units, based on 2015=100. The highest increases during the observed period were detected in minerals at 23.13%, mineral products at 12.93%, products made of wood, insulation materials, chemicals, and plastics at 5.96%, and electromechanical products at 5.01%. However, there was a decline of 3.67% in metal products.
The index has increased by 0.67% compared to the previous year's corresponding month.
The main commodity category saw a rise in minerals (by 15.85%), mineral products (by 8.20%), products made of wood, insulation materials, chemicals, and plastics (by 2.61%), and electromechanical products (by 1.10%). However, metallic products experienced a decline of 9.86%. The index decreased by 0.17% in June compared to the previous month.
