A working group from Uzbekistan, comprised of representatives from various ministries and departments, recently visited Spain to study effective irrigation management practices with the support of Uzbekistan's embassy in Madrid, Dunyo reports.
The delegation visited various organizations and agricultural cooperatives in Andalusia and Murcia, including the National Federation of Irrigation Communities of Spain (FENACORE) and the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation. It also observed water-saving technologies in agriculture and learned about water accounting and distribution and irrigation system management.
The group ultimately established cooperation with Spanish institutions and discussed the possibility of bringing in qualified specialists as consultants for ongoing irrigation system reform in the Central Asian country. Additionally, the group visited leading companies in Spain that manufactured equipment for drip and sprinkler irrigation, filters, pumps, and irrigation systems for greenhouses and discussed the introduction of water-saving technologies in Uzbekistan's agricultural sector.
Concrete cooperation arrangements were made as a result of the visit.
