Employee of cybersecurity company F.A.C.C.T., Nikita Kislytsin, was detained on June 22 in Kazakhstan. According to available information, the arrest is related to his previous employment, RIA reports.
The company has reached out to the Russian Consulate General in Kazakhstan and is providing comprehensive support, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"On June 22, Nikita Kislytsin, an employee of F.A.C.C.T., a Russian developer of technologies for combating cybercrime, was detained in Kazakhstan. Within the company, Nikita is responsible for the business development of network security. Based on the available information, the claims against Kislytsin are unrelated to his work at F.A.C.C.T. and are associated with a case from over 10 years ago when Nikita worked as a journalist and independent researcher," the statement reads.
"We believe that there are no legal grounds for his detention in Kazakhstan. We have hired lawyers who have been providing all necessary assistance to Nikita since last week, and we have also submitted a request to the Russian Consulate General in Kazakhstan for assistance in protecting our employee. We are monitoring the developments and providing comprehensive support to Nikita and his family," added the company.
"At the moment, Nikita Kislytsin is under temporary detention pending examination of the grounds for extradition arrest at the request of the United States," the company further stated.
The company noted that in recent years, Kislytsin has regularly traveled outside the country for both business and personal purposes, including visits to Kazakhstan, where he was last in November 2022. However, there were no issues when crossing the border. F.A.C.C.T. has not received any requests or inquiries related to Kislytsin.
"F.A.C.C.T. emphasizes that the announcement of Nikita Kislytsin being wanted in Russia was only made known today, on June 28, six days after the detention in Kazakhstan. The company is monitoring the developments," they added.
F.A.C.C.T. is the successor of Group-IB in Russia. The main shareholder of the Russian entity is Ilya Sachkov, whose treason case is scheduled to be heard in court on July 6.
