Anna Malyar, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, reports that the village of Pyatikhatki in the southern part of the Zaporizhzhia region has been liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Malyar shared this information on her Telegram channel, stating that a total of eight settlements, including Novodarovka, Levadnoye, Storojevoye, Makarovka, Blagodatnoye, Lobkovoye, Neskuchnoye, and Pyatikhatki, have been freed after two weeks of intense fighting.
Vladimir Rogov, the Russian-appointed representative of the annexed area of the Zaporizhzhia region, also acknowledged that Pyatikhatki is now under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the Ukrainian troops' assault on Pyatikhatki was repelled.
Malyar further mentioned in her post that over the past two weeks, the Ukrainian military has advanced 7km to the south and regained control of an area spanning 113km².
Previously, Volodymyr Zelensky expressed that Ukrainian troops are encountering strong resistance from the Russian army on the front lines. He characterized the situation as "generally positive, but very difficult."
Once again, the President of Ukraine urged Western allies not to delay providing military assistance, including the delivery of aircraft and the training of Ukrainian pilots.
Ukraine has not officially declared the start of a counterattack on the front lines. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine began on June 4. On June 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Ukrainian troops had failed to accomplish their objectives in any sector of the front during the attack.
