Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are making strides toward expanding their agricultural cooperation and establishing modern production facilities. This includes a joint grain and fodder production initiative in the Akmola and Kostanai regions, which is set to launch by late 2023, Kazakhstan's First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev has told at the Asia Grain Conference 2023, media reports.
Investment agreements and trade contracts were inked during Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's state visit to Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent in December 2022. Uzbekistan has also planned a visit to Kazakhtan's regions to determine the land plots and conditions of the partnership.
The two countries intend to construct a feedlot, a meat processing complex, a plant for processing fruit and berry crops, and a grain production cluster for deep processing up to 1mn tons of grain.
Another project is refining vegetable oil at the Central Asia International Industrial Cooperation Center on the bilateral border.
Additionally, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have established a joint export-import company UZKAZTRADE to help businesses grow mutual deliveries of products and enter the markets of third countries.
