The Russian giant train cars manufacturer, Metrovagonmash, part of Transmashholding, will supply 56 cars, or 14 new trains, for the Tashkent Metro. This is reported by Gazeta.uz.
Kirill Lipa, General Director of Transmashholding, said at the panel session of the exhibition “Innoprom. Central Asia” in Tashkent that the contract for the supply of more than 50 metro cars has already been signed.
The holding has been a traditional partner of the Tashkent Metro since its opening in 1977.
This year, 14 new trains are due to arrive and be put on the rails of the metro system.
From 2019 to 2021, the subway of the capital of Uzbekistan received 60 cars from Metrowagonmash with a total value of 91.3 million euros, which made it possible to form 15 new trains and reduce traffic intervals.
Financing of supplies was carried out at the expense of loans from the state corporation VEB.RF, Russian Export Center, Roseximbank and the state budget of Uzbekistan.
