Sales of foreign cars and electric cars rose sharply in Uzbekistan in March, the Center for Economic Research and Reform reports.
According to the source, the sales of new passenger cars of foreign production increased noticeably. Thus, the number of transactions increased by 25% and amounted to 2.900 units in March. This is the reported growth rate of 2.2 times compared to March 2022.
The sharp increase in sales of foreign-made cars could be due to a Presidential decree from January 1, 2023, that allows people to import foreign cars into the territory of Uzbekistan.
Activity in the electric vehicle market has also increased significantly over March. While sales in the primary market increased by 34%, the secondary market showed a rise of 24%.
