As a result of the negotiations between officials from Uzbekistan and Italy, an agreement was reached to expand cooperation in higher education.
The agreement covers the study of the Italian language and culture, academic exchange, professional development of professors, collaboration on European Union projects, creation of joint educational programs, student training on a grant basis, and the strengthening of cultural exchange.

The meeting took place between Kongratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, and Valerio De Cesaris, Rector of the University for Foreigners of Perugia, Italy.
Minister Sharipov provided an overview of the growing cooperation between the two countries in higher education and science, including the establishment of Italian university branches in Uzbekistan and the outcomes of the Uzbekistan–Italy Education Forum and recent rector-level meetings held in 2024–2025.
He also noted that work is currently underway to select joint research and innovation projects for the 2025–2027 period. In this context, the Minister emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration in doctoral studies, academic mobility, and participation in European educational initiatives such as Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and Marie Skłodowska-Curie programs.
Rector De Cesaris confirmed the University for Foreigners of Perugia's ongoing cooperation with Uzbek institutions, including the Uzbek State University of World Languages and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. He welcomed the opportunity to further strengthen ties through joint academic and cultural initiatives.
