Following the early parliamentary elections conducted in Kazakhstan on March 19, six out of seven parties, including the biggest Amanat party, surpassed the 5% barrier and were admitted to the Majlis (lower house) of the Kazakh parliament, at a meeting on March 20 the Central Election Commission's head, Nurlan Abdirov announced.
As a result of the elections:
- Amanat received 53.9% of the vote;
- People's Party of Kazakhstan - 6.8%;
- Kazakhstan's (Aq-Jol) Democratic Party - 8.41%;
- The People's Democratic Compatriot party of the Auil - 10.9%;
- The Republican Party - 6.59%;
- The National Social Democratic Party in opposition - 5.2%;
- The green party of Kazakhstan - 2.3% of the vote, and failed to meet the passing line.
Also, 3.9% of respondents chose the option "against all parties".
Early elections for the term of the higher parliament are organized by a mixed system: 70% of the deputies are elected by party, and 30% are eligible for one-mandate constituencies.
