A horse worth about 400,000 crowns (18,000 dollars) was stolen from a stable in Litomerice, Czech Republic, Ceske noviny reports.
Michaela Lagronova, the spokeswoman for the Czech Ministry of Finance, confirmed that the horse belongs to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
"An unknown criminal stole a thoroughbred English horse worth about 400,000 crowns from a stable near Litomeritsa." The press secretary of the police, Pavla Kofrova, said that the horse was in the stable in Krabchitsi before it was stolen.
The horse's name is Zazou and it was 16 years old. Among the distinguishing features, police said he had a white patch on his forehead and part of his right hind leg was also white. The stolen horse was bought in 2012 from the German stable WH Sport International. The stallion participated in 36 races, won nine of them, and earned more than 1.2 mln euros.
Idnes news agency reports that this stallion, along with several other horses, is part of the property frozen by the Czech Republic based on international sanctions against Kadyrov. The leader of Chechnya has long been known for his love for horses. Kadyrov's horses take part in various prestigious world races and win prizes. In the summer, a German man named Markus gave a horse to the head of Chechnya. Kadyrov thanked the fan for the "wonderful gift" and said that he was surprised and delighted by such a gesture.
