George Bush, the 43rd president of the USA, gave some secret advice to his successor, Barack Obama while leaving office. The New York Times published the message.
Bush calls to be careful not to fall into the trap of intractable land wars in the Middle East and Central Asia. He also predicts a war between Russia and Ukraine.
"India is a friend. Pakistan is not. Don't trust North Korea or Iran, but communication with them is better than nothing. Beware of Russia, because it wants neighbouring Ukraine. Beware of falling into the trap of intractable land wars in the Middle East and Central Asia. Building a state is more difficult than it seems," NYT quotes Bush's advice.
Fourteen years ago, Bush's team wrote down their advice for Barack Obama's new administration in 40 classified National Security Council memos.
