Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent on Tuesday (February 14) hosted the eighteenth round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Germany. The two delegations were chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov and the Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia (EECCA) of Germany Federal Foreign Office Matthias Lüttenberg.
Reportedly, the sides discussed in detail the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, aspects of strengthening political ties, and the schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels.
Particular attention was drawn to economic diplomacy, including the measures aimed at attracting German investments and technologies to the projects in Uzbekistan and increasing the export of Uzbekistan-made products to Germany. The sides reviewed the inventory of the inked bilateral documents and discussed the current state of the legal framework, as well as the implementation of joint agreements. They also exchanged views on measures aimed at boosting cultural and humanitarian ties, in particular in the field of education and healthcare.
Besides, the German side said it's ready to expand cooperation in the 'Uzbekistan-Germany-EU' format, including within the framework of the initiative of the German Federal Foreign Office 'Green Central Asia' and the EU Strategy for Central Asia.
