The draft law of the 2023 state program submitted for public discussion envisages softening punishment for first-time drone importers. If the program is approved, the offender will be penalized according to the administrative responsibility law for illegal importation, transfer, acquisition, storage or use of drones, their components and spare parts instead of criminal law.

Currently, a complete ban on the import, sale and use of drones has been introduced in Uzbekistan since January 1, 2015. Only authorized legal entities may use drones.
In May 2018, foreign creative groups were temporarily allowed to import unmanned aerial vehicles, in particular drones, to prepare photo and video materials about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan.
