The launch of the Uzbekistan-China-Kyrgyzstan railway project would begin in late 2023 or early 2024, according to the President of the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Temir Sariyev. He emphasized the political will of the three countries leaders to launch the construction project as the relevant documents were adopted in Samarkand last year.
'If the railway is built, it will make it feasible to expand Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan's economic, trade, logistics, and transport capabilities several times. Also, there will be an opportunity to earn income through transit transportation in our countries,' Temir Sariyev noted.
Besides, the government representative noted the lack of checkpoints between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the border areas due to technical reasons and called to resolve the issue of green corridors for the delivery of perishable products, create a trade and logistics hub and integrate electronic systems for veterinary documentation. Temir Sariev also called for an increase in the frequency of flights between the two neighboring countries, media reports.
