Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy has issued an appeal regarding the increasing demand for gas and electricity supply during cold days, despite the sufficient capacity of gas pipelines and key power networks to meet today's maximum demand.
The government department notes that the problems in providing consumers with electric power occur due to insufficiency of resources. Besides, due to the shortage of natural gas, consumers use electric devices more often to ensure their homes are heated. The city of Tashkent has registered over 1,000 failures within a day due to network overloads.
In this regard, the Ministry of Energy has recommended using only one heating device per household. Besides, it urged the employer to temporarily transfer employees to remote work mode. In addition, the government department suggests turning off redundant street lights, advertising screens, and illuminations, including lights in unfinished buildings as well as taking action against consumers who illegally use energy resources. The saved energy resources would serve the needs of the population and social sphere objects.
